Vivid Festival 2014

Usually, when I’m booked as a Digi-Op (digital operator), I’m on site, at a computer, managing data and beginning the job processing. Vivid Festival in Sydney was a little different.

I travelled down to assist editorial photographer, James Horan. In addition to my typical roles, I was at various sites around the festival, with James’ assistant, Dave, capturing overhead images. The camera was rigged to a jib, and connected with Tether Tools  cables. We found Canon’s free EOS Utility did a great job for controlling the camera, down to fine focus. I’d never expected to find myself dangling a camera over Darling Harbour before!

James’ images from Vivid Festival have been seen in many publications including these grabs from  Check out his own blog for more images from this colourful festival of light & sound!
